I read this book for class, but I really loved it. In this book, a depressed thirteen year old boy named Conor has to deal with his mom suffering from a disease. As you can imagine, this takes a toll on him both physically and mentally. When one night, a monster appears, Conor is faced with two questions. What is his truth? Is it really his mom that needs to be healed? Inspired by an idea by Siobhan Dowd, this is a story about heartache, love, friendship, and healing.

If I hadn’t had to read this with the class, I would have read this all in one night. It has both a profanity and romance factor of zero.

“Belief is half of all healing. Belief in the cure, belief in the future that awaits. Your belief is valuable, so you must be careful where you put it, and in whom.”-The Monster (A Monster Calls)
